WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis
is a treatment intervention comprised of inducing a client into a relaxed, suggestible state and then offering post-hypnotic
suggestions for relief from symptoms. Trance is the simple shifting back and forth between the conscious and subconscious
mind; which is a natural process that occurs 80% of every day, such as, when we day dream, or just before we fall asleep at
night.
HYPNOSIS VS. HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnosis
is a method of relaxation and concentration that provides access to a unique state of consciousness. Hypnotherapy is the process
of having a session with a client who is in the hypnotic altered state of consciousness. Hypnotherapy is an
interactive process.
HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HELP ME?
Sometimes
certain difficulties in our lives persist even though we seem to have a clear intellectual or rational understanding of them.
Hypnotherapy is used to uncover, explore, and release the emotional feelings attached to them. It is a way to bypass
the rational, conscious mind and literally get to the central feelings behind the core issues which lie in the subconscious
mind. All long-term memory, emotional feelings, habits, relationship patterns, addictions, involuntary bodily functions, creativity,
and intuition are stored in the sub-conscious. This is why no matter how much you try to change certain behavior patterns
in your conscious, rational mind, your subconscious mind wins the mental war and you return to the old behavior pattern.
The only way to effectively and permanently make a true change in your behavior is to change the remembered pattern in the
subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy is a very powerful tool for making lasting changes.
WHAT IF I CAN’T BE HYPNOTIZED?
The
answer is everyone can be hypnotized. For example: Have you ever been driving in your car and realized that you passed your
exit three blocks earlier? You might think, “Wow! How did that happen?“ You missed your turn because you were
in a “trance state.” This phenomena is called “Driving Hypnosis.” Every human being does it.
In addition, If you have ever been doing a simple or mundane task such as, washing the dishes, painting, waxing the car, or
knitting and at the same time thinking about something that happened in the past or something you would like to have happen
in the future, you have been in a “trance state.” We call this “day dreaming.”
WILL I REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY HYPNOTHERAPY
SESSION? Although you are in a deep state of relaxation, your senses become heightened. You will hear
and remember everything. In addition, even though you are relaxed, you will be verbally interacting during your session. What
happens during a hypnosis session is ultimately up to you. Your hypnotherapist cannot make you do or say something that you
don’t want to do or say. Your hypnotherapist is simply an educated guide to assist you in communication in the most
effective way with your powerful unconscious mind. It is a insightful and heart opening experience.
